The Post 9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Approved training under the Post-9/11 GI Bill includes graduate and undergraduate degrees, and vocational/technical training. All training programs must be offered by an institution of higher learning (IHL) and approved for GI Bill benefits. Additionally, tutorial assistance, and licensing and certification test reimbursement are approved under the Post- 9/11 GI Bill.
For Active Duty Personnel, the following applies:
Active Duty Completed After September 10, 2001:
- 100% - At least 36 months
- 100% - At least 30 continuous days on active duty and discharged due to service-connected disability
- 90% - 30 months to 36 months
- 80% - 24 to 30 months
- 70% - 18 to 24 months
- 60% - 12 to 18 months
- 50% - 6 to 12 months
- 40% - 90 days to 6 months
For Reservists, the following applies:
Post 9-11 Service:
- 100% - At least 36 cumulative months
- 100% - At least 30 continuous days on active duty and discharged due to service-connected disability
- 90% - 30 cumulative months
- 80% - 24 cumulative months
- 70% - 18 cumulative months
- 60% - 12 cumulative months
- 50% - 6 cumulative months
- 40% - 90 aggregate days
