Enlisted Incentive Bonus and Montgomery GI Bill Kicker Programs Eligibility Announced

9/19/2003

From Commander, Naval Reserve Force Public Affairs NEW ORLEANS (NNS) -- The semi-annual policy message has been released for the period of Oct. 1, 2003, through Apr. 30, 2004, for the Enlisted Incentive Bonus and Montgomery GI Bill/Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) kicker programs eligibility. The policy details specific ratings and Navy Enlisted Classification (NECs) eligible to apply.

Members applying for an incentive bonus or MGIB-SR kicker eligibility based on an NEC must be assigned to an Inactive Duty Training (IDT) drill pay billet that requires the NEC. Merely having the NEC in their inventory does not automatically qualify the member.

Members affiliating or enlisting in a temporary rating program are ineligible to apply for an incentive bonus. Members must be serving in the permanent rating in which they successfully served while on active duty.

Members affiliating or enlisting in a temporary rating program are eligible to apply for MGIB-SR kicker eligibility provided all other eligibility requirements of the MGIB-SR kicker program are met.

Details are contained in ALNAVRESFOR 031/03 (available online at http://reserves.navy.mil. Click on “Command Services”).
