Guard offers tuition assistance [ Nov 3, 2003] What’s the bottom line on the National Guard funding your education? You might be asking yourself this very question. There are many programs that a Virginia Army National Guard (VaARNG) soldier can utilize; however, it may be difficult and, quite frankly, a puzzle to make all of the resources out there fit together perfectly and fulfill a soldier’s educational needs.
Enlisted Incentive Bonus and Montgomery GI Bill Kicker Programs Eligibility Announced [ Sep 19, 2003] Members applying for an incentive bonus or MGIB-SR kicker eligibility based on an NEC must be assigned to an Inactive Duty Training (IDT) drill pay billet that requires the NEC. Merely having the NEC in their inventory does not automatically qualify the member.
Making the most of down time - Tuition assistance helps service members further their education [ May 16, 2003] Service members need only choose a school that offers courses the individual is interested in studying or needing to take for professional advancement to benefit from 100 percent tuition assistance and education resources on base.
Top-up, 100 percent tuition assistance covers college costs [ Dec 20, 2002] The Marine Corps increased the tuition assistance program from 75 to 100 percent in October, allowing Marines to seek higher education marks while in service without the added out-of-pocket expense or tapping other financial assistances.
GI Bill gets $100 bump [ Oct 11, 2002] The raise is the second of three scheduled benefit bumps. In 2001, Congress approved the Veterans Education and Benefits Expansion Act. The act authorized three increases to the Montgomery GI Bill program. The hikes eventually will raise the lifetime benefit by 46 percent from $24,192 to $35,460 on Oct. 1, 2003.
Tuition assistance full, classrooms not [ Oct 11, 2002] Marines can now receive 100 percent tuition assistance to attend college classes. Ironically, despite the incentive, fewer Marines are enrolling in school.
'Relief' fund frees financial future;Spouses hit payday for college tuition assistance [ Sep 16, 2002] Along with many other programs available to the military community, the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society encompassed STAP in order to assist the spouses of Marines and Sailors who need financial help when it comes to school.
Tuition Assistance Gives Employees Opportunity to Further Education [ Aug 29, 2002] The Civilian Tuition Assistance Program (CTAP) was established at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) and its Branch Medical Clinics to give civil service employees the opportunity to further their professional development by making available payment for tuition fees.
Tuition assistance bolstered by GI Bill funds [ Mar 16, 2001] "With the new increase, you now have $23,400 worth of benefits, no matter when you came in," added McIntosh. "While you're in, if you use $3,000 of those benefits, you'll still have more than $20,000 left when you get out and you will probably have a degree!"

All services now pay 75 percent of undergraduate and graduate level tuition and related costs up to ceilings of $187.50 per semester hour and $3,500 per year, said Otto Thomas, DoD director of continuing education.

DoD Standardizes In-Service Tuition Aid [ Jul 18, 1997] July 18, 1997 – All service members will be entitled to equal, uniform tuition assistance benefits under a new DoD policy.
