Alabama Disabled American Veterans Scholarship Program: This scholarship program is designed to assist the children of service-connected disabled veterans whose parents are unable to provide the cost of a college education. Scholarships are not available for part-time, vocational or graduate studies. Scholarship awards range from a minimum of $200.00 to a maximum of $3,000.00 subject to renewal each year based on their academic record and financial need. Funds are paid directly to the college/university.
Eligibility: Veteran parent must be service-connected disable and whose military service was terminated with an honorable discharge. The applicant must take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and be a senior in a public, parochial or independent school or attending an accredited college/university with a student classification of less than senior class status. The veteran need not be a member of the Disabled American Veterans service organization.
