Education Benefit for Minnesota Veterans: A maximum payment of $750.00, to be used toward tuition only. The $750.00 payment may be made to the school directly, or may be reimbursed to the veteran upon verification from the school that the tuition has been paid by the veteran. This program may be used at the following institutions located within the State of Minnesota: state universities, community colleges, vocational technical colleges, any campus of the University of Minnesota, or any college of higher learning which has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools: a law college approved by the Supreme Court, a theological seminary, a nursing school approved by the Board of Nursing, a vocational technical trade or business school approved by the State Department of Education.
Eligibility: The applicant must have served for at least 181 consecutive days of activemilitary service and have been separated from active duty under honorableconditions. The length of service requirement does not apply if activeservice was terminated earlier by reason of disability incurred while servingon active duty. The disability must be recognized and rated by the U.S.Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).The veteran shall have been a resident of the State of Minnesota at thetime of entry into the Armed Forces, and for six months immediatelypreceding entry.The veteran must be a citizen of the United States and a current residentof Minnesota. The veteran must have completely exhausted his/her federal educationalbenefits prior to the delimiting date or within the eligibility period duringwhich benefits were available. Veterans who have allowed theireducational benefits to expire without completely using them do not qualifyfor this program.
