Pennsylvania Scotland School For Veterans' Children: A unique, state-funded institution offering quality residential education to the children of Commonwealth Veterans. Established in 1895, the school has been administered by the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs since 1996. Some 350 students in grades 3 through 12 live on its 186-acre campus, located in southern Franklin County, near Chambersburg. Eligibility: To be eligible for admission to Scotland School, the following requirements must be met: (1) the natural or adoptive parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle must be an honorably discharged veteran or have died while on active duty; (2) parents of the child must have resided in Pennsylvania for a continuous period of three years prior to the time of application; (3) children must be ages 6 through 15 in order to be admitted.
